HWES Campus Clean Up Day – Sunday, May 20

CAMPUS CLEAN UP DAY - our second and final Campus Clean-Up Day is
scheduled for Sunday, May 20 from 10:30-1:30 p.m. Take a quick peek
at our school website's Home page...the clipart information for Campus
Clean is so cute...thanks Jen Adair! Be sure to meet at the Homestead
building and everyone will then be given an area to work on either at
Homestead or at Wakefield. Mulch will be delivered to both buildings
and the Committee (thanks, Elizabeth Cotton!) is going to purchase
flowers and hanging baskets to freshen up and beautify our campus.
For those who came out to help with our first Campus Clean-Up back on
October 9 (seems like just yesterday...this year is flying!), we sure
had a lot of fun while making our campus shine. The kids wore their
jersey's and spirit wear to plant, mulch and clean up, the Hospitality
Committee supplied bottles of water for all (and will again on
Sunday!), Bel Air United Methodist sent MANY folks over to help (and
will be doing this again for this clean-up day!!) and HWES families
bonded and created a cleaner, prettier campus for all of our kids!

HWES Art Show 2012

ANNUAL ART SHOW – this year’s Art Show, “Art Shapes the World”, was
wonderific!!!  There have been so many people commenting on the HWES
Museum of Art!!  How talented are our children?!?!?!?!!!!!  We are
fortunate to have the dedicated, creative and talented art teachers we
do….Ms. Criss, Ms. Bryne and Ms. Johnson…thank you, thank you,
thank you!!!  Another event that takes hours to arrange, set-up, clean-
up and return art work.  Plus, there were many volunteers who helped
hang these works of art for the show.  It says a lot and it is clear
to see why HWES is second to none when you think about the
following….last night was a nice night, excellent weather, a night
that is heavy into the sports practices and we still had an awesome
attendance!  We are fortunate to have such a supportive Wildcat
community!  There were many families that came out last night and
stayed for a good while to enjoy the show and crafts.  Thanks to
everyone who made it out last night to the art show!!

HOSPITALITY NEEDS YOU!

If anyone can help out on the Hospitality Committee once a month by baking or purchashing a goodie (granola bars, fruit, veggies, brownies, etc) for our monthly teacher/staff birthday celebration, please let me know. It happens on the 15th of each month! It’s a great way to get involved for those of us that work and cannot do things on campus and it’s a totally appreciated way to volunteer at your child’s school! We truly appreciate any help you can donate with this!! Thanks!!

Want to help HWES?

There are a lot of ways to help support Homestead Wakefield Elementary School.   It’s not all about volunteering time.  Sometimes it’s just as simple as doing your shopping.  If you register your store loyalty card at local stores (Shoprite, Safeway and Giant for example), each purchase earns cash for HWES.

Also right now (through September 30th), ShopRite is doing a sweepstakes and you only enter once for the month but it is 50,000 box tops!!    Visit  for details.
