Reflections 2011-12:  Diversity Means…

Many packets for this year’s Reflections have been sent out to those students who requested them. It’s not too late if you would like to participate.  If you need a packet please write a note to your child’s teacher asking for a copy from the office as several sets have been placed there for a speedy return to you!

The National PTA has made numerous changes to the program this year, and unfortunately, this has caused a commotion with state and local levels.  The biggest concern is the online order form, which has been difficult to use.  Therefore, we have made the following decision: if at all possible, please continue to use the online form as outlined in your packet with the added information for the PTA section on the bottom.  Should your child’s work move onto upper levels of judging, this electronic form is a must or the work will be disqualified.  However, if you have any difficulty with the form, please feel free to use the attached semi-official form instead.  We can always have forms re-done and re-signed for those 24 or so entries that move on instead of frustrating the multi-hundred submissions we get across the board!

Some other important reminders:

• All work MUST have an actual title and must be the work of your child alone
• The artist statement must be included for every entry.  If you can fit it all on the form itself, great, but if you think you need more room, the entire statement must be put on a separate standard sized sheet of paper.  If you are using the electronic form, then please make sure it is typed.
• A completed and signed consent form is required for every entry that has any part of a face, voice or body that is recognizable, including your child or their subjects.  This was included in your packet. (public places with people you don’t know?, no worries!)
• Entry forms must have a parent’s and a student’s signature please.
• Read all other details pertaining to each category in the reflections packet and follow it carefully.
• Collection boxes are currently in each school office, and the very last day, without exception, to collect is on Oct. 26^th from 8:30 am -9:00 in each school building lobby.
