The “Box Tops” collection program has brand new events this year to encourage greater participation.  We will have both individual and classroom competitions and award prizes throughout the year.  Each classroom will designate a box top leader who will cut, count, and coordinate totals for the classroom.  Direct your children to fill up any sheet of paper with box top cut and glued (or in plastic bag), and turn them into their classroom teacher.  Please write their full name, grade, and teacher on the bag/sheet of paper.  If you do not have 50 box tops, you can still turn in individual box tops that count towards the classroom totals!

Classroom Competition:  The classroom (per grade level) with the most box tops collected by October 20 and then by Feb 17 will receive an ice cream party at the school cafeteria and be visited by the box top mascot.

Individual Competition:  This will be going on in tandem with the classroom competition.  Once your child turns in 50 box tops to their classroom, they are eligible to enter into the monthly box top raffle.  The teacher will provide them with an entry slip to be placed in the main office with a box marked Box Tops!  We will draw the winners (one winner per school) at the end of each month and announce them over the morning announcements.  The more you turn in, the more entries you get to submit each month.  Prizes will vary from gift cards to small toys/stuffed animals depending o the age group that won.  Contact me if you have any new prizes your would like to donate to the box tops program.

We hope this will encourage the student/parent to get excited about earning free money for the school.  Don’t forget to visit the Box Tops Website before doing online shopping at many stores (earn up to 15% of purchases) or buying books (6% of purchases).   We earned a little over $4000 last year and I think we can earn even more.  Two area schools earned $10,000 and $15,000 last year.  I think we can work toward those goals with everyone’s support!!

Find Box Tops coupons on hundreds of your favorite products. Cut along dotted line making sure the expiration date and the product code are visible. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents for our school!

2. Send Box Tops to School
Turn in your Box Tops coupons. Our school will collect the Box Tops and send them to Box Tops for Education.

3. Our School Earns Cash

There are other ways to earn money from Box Tops For Education.  Marketplace ebox tops is the KEY this year!! If you are a first time shopper, we earn 20 box tops just for shopping.  All you have to do is log onto www.boxtops4education.com and go through the marketplace shopping FIRST and then it will take you to your favorite stores like Target, Home depot, Barnes and Nobles, Sears and soooo many more. If you spend $10 you can earn between 4-8 box tops per $10.  Keep this in mind for holiday shopping too!!   Happy online shopping just remember to goto box top website first!

If you use a Giant card when you shop, all of your purchases can benefit HWES. From October 7, 2011 until March 29, 2012 HWES earns cash each time you shop. You have to re-register your Giant card annually to maintain HWES as your home school.  Registration begins on September 8, 2011.

Last Year, we raised almost $500 from Giant just from registered cards, just for grocery shopping.

Safeway uses eScrip.com to run their program for education benefits. If you shop at Safeway, you could be earning up to 4% of your purchases for HWES all year long. See below for benefit amounts:
1% on monthly qualifying purchases between $0-$300
Plus 2% on monthly qualifying purchases between $300-$500
Plus 3% on monthly qualifying purchases between $500-$600
Plus 4% on monthly qualifying purchases above $600.

Also, Safeway is currently running a special.  Through September 13, 2011,  they will give 10% back to HWES on the purchase of hundreds of different grocery items in the store.
