BAND & ORCHESTRA
Greetings 4th & 5th Grade Parents,
My name is Mrs. Morrison and I am the band and orchestra teacher at Homestead Wakefield. Students in 4th and 5th grade are presented with the opportunity to participate in the band or orchestra program by playing an instrument. Students may BOTH play an instrument and participate in chorus at the elementary level. I highly recommend 4th grade students especially participate in both so they can have the performance experience and determine what they really enjoy.
This year, I will be utilizing the app “Remind” to send out band & orchestra announcements via text messages and/or e-mail. If you have not yet signed up, please e-mail me and include your child’s name so I can send you the code. If you have any other questions or concerns at any point in the year, please feel free to contact me.

Harford County Public Schools offer instruction in instrumental music to all interested students in grades 4 through 12.
Lessons are given for all string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, and there are numerous opportunities for
performance in various school ensembles.
Unfortunately, there are many interested students whose parents cannot afford to buy or rent an instrument, and there
simply aren’t enough school-owned instruments available for loan. That is where Band Together comes in.
If you have a violin, viola, cello, string bass, (any size), flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, cornet, French horn,
trombone, baritone, tuba, or snare drum, that you would like to donate to this cause, please contact Robert Powers at
410-638-3920 or Robert.Powers@hcps.org. The condition or age of the instrument does not matter.
